Getting ahead of adversity

At Headversity, we are committed to a future where mental fitness is proactive, not reactive. Our mission is to make practicing mental health skills as routine as developing physical fitness, and to help all leaders ensure the right mental health tools are easily accessible to everyone on their team.

Meet the mindset behind Headversity

What happens when a psychiatrist and a learning technologist team up to fix a broken system? You get Headversity, a mental health training platform grounded in science, built for real people, and driven by founders who know that better mental health at work starts long before crisis hits.

We are reframing how we deal with mental health as less like going to the doctor and more like going to the gym.

Founding Message from
Dr. Ryan Todd

As a psychiatrist, I saw firsthand the consequences of a system built only to react to mental health crises instead of preventing them. Working with patients facing extreme adversity – like athletes sidelined by injury, people enduring chemotherapy, or employees burnt out by workplace pressures – I knew there had to be a better way. Mental health skills, just like physical ones, can be taught.

So, alongside like-minded educator Dr. Jordan DeCoste, I co-founded Headversity with one mission: make essential mental health skills accessible, practical, and part of everyday life. Initially, our focus was on proactive resilience training, helping individuals get ahead of adversity. Market feedback from the workplace and sport teams we partnered with was invaluable, guiding us to expand our tools and add more ways for individuals and teams to practice these crucial skills.

While working closely with companies and sport teams striving to build resilient, inclusive cultures, we learned that the most effective preventative efforts required an organization-wide commitment. We came to understand that truly “doing what’s right” in organizational mental health meant grounding our approach in credible, global standards. This realization shaped Headversity’s evolution. Today, we provide an implementation system that translates expert frameworks, like ISO 45003 or the MHCC’s National Standard, into simple, actionable programs. Our goal is to help leaders make organizational mental health measurable and defensible, enabling them to confidently foster resilient, inclusive environments for everyone.

We’re serious about walking the walk

We don’t believe in burnout-as-a-badge-of-honor. We believe in doing work that matters, alongside people you’d actually want to have lunch with.

Yes, we’re fast-paced. That’s what happens when you’re building something important. We’re also the kind of place where mental recharge days are a real thing and nobody blinks if you block time for a personal appointment or mid-day workout.

Just good humans doing great work, collaboratively, candidly, and with a shared belief that how we work is just as important as what we’re working on. We celebrate the wins, learn from the misses, and make time for real connection.

When a lot of your waking hours are spent working, we think those hours should leave you energized, not drained.
